This interactive workshop will look at cyberbullying in its many forms and the detrimental and lasting impact that it can have on young people. We will look at which groups of children are particularly vulnerable to being bullied and/or bullying others and what evidence-based measures have been shown to be most (and least) effective in helping to reduce cyberbullying.

We will look at which groups of children are particularly vulnerable to being bullied and/or bullying others and what evidence-based measures have been shown to be most (and least) effective in helping to reduce cyberbullying. This workshop will also talk about children’s online and offline behaviors and how they can influence e-safety. We will discuss how parents and educators can work with young people to form a healthy sense of respect for the internet and the intrinsic role it plays in our lives, as well as some of the facts and misconceptions surrounding the safety of the online world.

About the presenters:
Najwa Waheed Naohara is the Outreach Coordinator at TELL. She oversees various outreach programs such as the TELL Exceptional Parenting Program, TELL Lifeline School Awareness Program and TELL Anti-Bullying Program. She has given anti-bullying workshops at various international schools in the Tokyo area.

Tracey Reed is the Elementary Instructional Technology Coach at The American School in Japan. She provides teachers, children and parents with practical strategies for healthy and empowering engagement with the online world. She has run numerous workshops on digital citizenship, kids and social media, family connection in a connected world, and developing family media agreements.
