Position Overview:
Role Title: Outreach Coordinator (Tokyo/Kanto)
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (Renewal is decided by mutual agreement)
Work Hours: Actual hours will be determined according to work requirements by consultation between the provider and TELL, with an initial expectation of 20 hours per week. The successful candidate might be expected working on Saturdays/Sundays and night time due to the events requirement.

Work Location: Tokyo (Wesley Center 2F, 6-10-11 Minami Aoyama, Tokyo); Working from home arrangement available, but expected to work at the office at least once a week. Candidate must have a valid work permission in Japan. In-person attendance might be required at local/regional events and workshops.

Reports To: Richard Okuno, Outreach Director

Responsibilities:

  1. Workshop and Event Coordination
    – Coordinate, attend, and support the facilitation of workshops.
    – Liaise with TELL members to schedule therapists and clinicians for workshops and events.
    – Work with providers to procure event space, facilities, translators, audio/IT support (including Pub
    Quizzes and smaller community events – volunteering and building awareness at these events).
  2. Community Engagement and Advocacy
    – Actively promote TELL’s services, events, and awareness campaigns.
    – Represent TELL at fundraisers and tabling events.
    – Build and maintain partnerships with external organizations in the Kanto/Tokyo region, including
    schools, embassies, NGOs/NPOs, and military bases.
  3. Administrative and Operational Support
    – Perform necessary administrative tasks within Salesforce.
    – Prepare and submit timely monthly financial accounts for board reports.
    – Attend and contribute weekly staff meetings.

Requirements:
– Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills; Ability to work well as a member of a team.  
– A passion for making connections in the community, and ideas for community building and organizing.
– Handles both routine and confidential information in an appropriate, respectful manner.
– Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
– Ability to remain flexible and prioritize job duties independently.
– Strong written and verbal communication in English, organization and interpersonal skills, proficient in Google Suite and Salesforce applications; Minimum of business level English.
– Knowledge of and connection to the international community in Tokyo/Kanto area is a plus.
– Background in mental health, social work, community organizing, or non-profits a plus.
– Working knowledge of Japanese or another language is a plus.
