In July, TELL will offer the community two more free online PFA trainings. This training is available to anyone and is a proven method of ensuring appropriate support reaches those in need when emergencies and disasters strike and has been rolled out in Japan as best practice following disasters.
In particular, we are looking to train people who speak Ukrainian or Russian or who are already supporting or expecting to support Ukrainian evacuees in their organization or as a volunteer. The course equips learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma, and grief on others, with an emphasis on self-care.
The training will cover the following topics:
- What is psychological first aid?
- How do emergencies impact mental health?
- The psychological first aid stages: Learn, Look, Listen, Link
- Supporting yourself and others
- Example scenario
