Gender Joy: Exploring gender diverse joy through zine-making

Date: Sunday 22 October 2023 @ 13:00-15:00

Registration required, RSVP here: https://tinyurl.com/GenderJREG

Location: Wesley Center (107-0062 Tokyo, Minato City, Minamiaoyama, 6 Chome−10−11)

The theme of this presentation is gender diversity – resilience and safety. We will explore what gender means to the participants so that they come to confirm that our genders are not divisive, but can be inclusive. The presenter will explore how we can naturally practice resilience and inclusivity in our lives to create safety and as a result, prevent mental ill-health.

Following the presentation we will be exploring gender diverse joy using the creative process of zine-making. The idea is to use artistic expression to explore the positive aspects of being gender-diverse. Using the creative process enables us to play more openly with radical concepts that are often difficult or even inconceivable to imagine — such as the idea that being trans can bring benefits. The purpose is just to encourage consideration of how our lives might have been enriched by our gender diverse experiences, even in small ways. All crafting materials will be provided.

The workshop is open to participants of any gender.
