ACT is highly effective in coping with anxiety & panic attacks. Each session is 3,000 yen (plus tax). This group is for adults & participants will be pre-screened.

Sessions will focus on understanding ACT and failed coping mechanisms, how to cope with thoughts and feelings using ACT.

FAQ for Anxiety Group 2022

How much disclosure and discussion of our issues are required in a group?

It is up to participants to determine, but we will try to create a safe space for everyone.  There may be a brief self-introduction in the beginning of the first group session.

What consists of pre-screening for the group?

Pre-screening consists of a risk assessment and your current anxiety assessment.  You can meet with one of the facilitators and ask any questions you may have as well.

Why is the commitment needed to attend all sessions?

The sessions are in a sequence; therefore, it will be difficult to catch up after missing a session.

What are the dates and times of the group sessions?

The group will run from Tuesday, October 18 until December 6, 2022, from 19:00-20:30 for a total of eight sessions.

Where will the group sessions be held? 

The sessions will be held in a private Zoom meeting, so you can join from your home; please make sure you have a stable internet connection.

How should I sign up for the group?

How should I pay for all sessions?

Please contact the TELL coordinator at [email protected]. The coordinator will take your payment by credit card or bank transfer.

Can I attend just a few sessions?

It is highly encouraged to attend all sessions.

What is the content of each session?

For each session, participants work on specific skills. Some sessions are focused on psychoeducation.

What is required of me in the group?

To attend all sessions and be a willing participant.

How is my confidentiality protected?

The “TELL group therapy statement of understanding” explains confidentiality policy regarding group therapy and all participants are asked to acknowledge and sign the statement prior to joining the group.

How many people are there in the group?

There will be 6-10 people per group.

What are the topics of each session?

Session 1 & 2: Understanding ACT and our failed coping mechanisms

Session 3 & 4: Diffusion (How do we cope with thoughts using ACT)

Session 5 & 6: Expansion (How do we cope with feelings using ACT)

Session 7 & 8: Living a rich and meaningful life through committing to our values

What materials are necessary for the group?

The main therapy approach this group uses when it comes to addressing issues with adjustment, anxiety and depression is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
