I need help right now. What do I do?

TELL Counseling is not equipped to provide emergency services.

In the case of an emergency, please contact the police or emergency line.

If you wish to speak to someone for emotional support, please call our TELL Lifeline: 03-5774-0992 (English only, every day, 9 am to 11 pm).

General counseling sessions are by appointment only and we do not provide same-day appointments.

How long will it take before I can schedule an appointment at TELL Counseling?

In general, clients can schedule the initial appointment within one week of the initial contact. However, due to limited availability of our providers, a two or three-week wait period may be required before we can schedule an initial session.

What kind of therapy do you provide?

For information regarding counseling services, please see Counseling Overview

Can I schedule a counseling appointment for a friend/family member?

For adult* individual counseling, we do not schedule/cancel appointments for a third party (including a family member, fiancée and boyfriend/girlfriend). Only the identified client can schedule/cancel her/his own appointment. If you think a friend/family member needs to meet with a therapist for counseling, please ask her/him to contact us.

For couples counseling, either one of the clients may contact for scheduling/canceling an appointment.

In cases where the identified client is a minor, a designated parent or legal guardian is allowed to manage the counseling appointments.

What can I expect in the first session (intake session)?

Before the appointment, you will be asked to fill out a form which will help the counselor to assess your situation during the intake session. At the initial session, you can expect to:

  • work together with counselor to clarify your presenting problems
  • express your goals for treatment
  • gain an understanding of your counselor’s approach to therapy

Your therapist will assess and determine the best course of action for your situation, such as recommending on going counseling (individual, couples, family, etc), and/or referrals to additional health service providers.
