Connoisseurs 2016 Auction Provides Great Support for TELL’s Lifeline

We significantly streamlined the event from last year, holding it in a more intimate venue and reducing the number of live auction lots from 55 (!) to a more manageable 30 which included some extraordinary wines donated by an anonymous supporter. At the same time, we hit our financial target, and with lower venue and production costs than last year, we improved our net income. Not least, people said they had a great time!
“TELL’s prices start at free, for the Lifeline, and we offer subsidized clinical counseling for those who cannot afford to pay the full fees,” said TELL board chair Dr. Anne Bille. “Also. many of our outreach programs that reach schools and other organizations are either free or very inexpensive, thanks to companies and individuals that provide support for these programs. In Japan and throughout the world it has become more challenging for non-profits to raise funds, and TELL relies on community support for our continued operation. The Connoisseurs Auction is our most important annual fundraiser, and the donations we receive contribute significantly to our ongoing provision of critical mental health services to international residents of Japan.”
Thanks to all the donors and volunteers who made the evening a logistical success, and to the guests who helped make the event a financial one!
