Thank You For Joining TELL’s #16DaysOfActivism Campaign!

Thank You For Joining TELL’s #16DaysOfActivism Campaign!

Over 16 days in November and December, TELL joined the global 16 Days of Activism against gender based violence (GBV) movement. Thanks to the efforts of our contributors SARC Tokyo; Spring; Professor Machiko Osawa; Nia Lyte; & Kazuko Ito we were able to increase knowledge of some current issues with the system in Japan, necessary improvements, champion some successes, and link people to valuable resources. Our campaign is still available to view on Instagram and Facebook so if you have not yet had the chance, please take a look and show your support for the elimination of violence against women.

We also held a micro fundraiser on December 10th where we invited people to #PutOnPurple for TELL to increase awareness of GBV and raise funds to support our mission. From TELL’s internal community, we received photos of our board and staff members sporting purple paraphernalia, and then our wider community (including Robert Walters, ACCJ Women In Business, Women in Law Japan). We received over 580,000 yen during the 15 day campaign period.

At TELL, we want to extend our huge gratitude to everyone who joined our 16 Days campaign – whether you were an interviewee, read, liked, or shared our posts, and to everyone who #PutOnPurple. Every action taken to support us, every yen donated, is meaningful and we truly appreciate your efforts. We hope to be back with a new campaign to support 16 Days of Activism again in 2025 as while the problem of GBV has sadly not disappeared, we can work together for its elimination and a safer society for all.
