Tokyo Tower Climb and Step Up Challenge 2023

Save the date for TELL’s Step Up Challenge! September 10 – October 10, 2023, and Tokyo Tower Climb October 14.

With COVID restrictions finally behind us and summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to get your walking boots ready and start planning for this year’s Step Up challenge and Tokyo Tower Climb.

The themes for this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day – Creating Hope Through Action and World Mental Health Day – Celebrating the Power of Community Kindness perfectly embody TELL’s mission and journey over the last 50 years as together we fight to ensure that everyone makes it through to the next day. Sadly last year saw an increase in the number of lives lost to suicide with 21,881 people who lost their battle with mental illness.

We know that many of us have and are struggling with burnout as a result of the pandemic. This summer our Step Up and Tower Tower Climb have never been more relevant and important.

Once again we are asking the community to join our month-long campaign and help to create hope for others through our actions. As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we would love to see 5000 people taking part in these events and showing the power of community kindness.

You have two ways you can participate.

You can join our Step Up challenge anytime and from anywhere from September 10 – October 10, either as an individual or team, as a school, community, or business and take 21,881 steps (or turns of your wheelchair, etc) in one day. On October 14th we will hold our 5th Tokyo Tower Climb. Whether as a team, individual, school, or community group, we invite you to join us for a morning of fun at this iconic landmark and help create awareness about mental health needs in Japan.

Start speaking with your friends, family, business colleagues, and teammates, save the dates, and help spread the word to as many people as possible.  We can’t wait to see you there and see how much hope we can create.
