Kohei Mori is a New York State licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Music Therapist. Born and raised in Japan, he initially worked in finance before transitioning into the field of therapy. He earned a Master of Science in Music Therapy from Molloy University in New York after three years in the finance industry.
Kohei has gained clinical experience in diverse settings, including inpatient psychiatric units and working with children with special needs. He worked at a mental health clinic in New York City, where he provided mental health assessments and trauma-focused treatments to adults from various cultural backgrounds. In addition to his clinic work, he also visited supportive housing facilities to offer psychotherapy and music therapy to residents.
Kohei’s therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, fostering a warm, collaborative environment. He integrates various therapeutic methods to meet each client’s unique goals, using creative outlets like music to explore inner strengths and resources. His practice offers a safe, judgment-free space to help individuals navigate life’s challenges and heal from past trauma.
Outside of work, Kohei enjoys playing instruments such as the piano and guitar, as well as hiking.
