Kirara Miyahara is a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). Her work experience is primarily in Japan and the United States, and she has conducted individual and group therapy sessions in group homes, elementary schools, and in hospitals. She has experience working with children as young as 3, to individuals in their 70s.
With a background in anthropology, philosophy, and psychology as well as specialized training and Masters education in art therapy from New York University, Kirara incorporates humanistic and psychodynamic theories into person-centered, trauma-informed therapeutic care. Her approach is informed by past training, education, and evidence-based research, as well as embodied knowledge as a Japanese multilingual LGBTQIA+ community-identifying woman living with an autoimmune condition.
