The heart of Ashly’s approach is experiencing the healing power of emotion while simultaneously feeling safe and empowered.
Ashly is a pre-licensed clinical psychologist who practices therapy in both English and Japanese. She studied clinical psychology at the Tokyo University of Social Welfare, where she learned and practiced a range of psychological testing, ongoing assessment techniques, and an emotionally-focused therapeutic approach.
Ashly has mainly worked with adults struggling with family-of-origin issues, depression, cultural adjustment, addiction, co-dependency, and building self-reliance. She has also worked with children struggling with issues of control, school refusal, and disempowerment.
Her approach has its roots in psychodrama and Gestalt therapy, but recently includes elements of Internal Family Systems Therapy as she continues to deepen her studies and practice.
