September 26, 2016 – Nippon Renewable Energy has provided extensive support for mental health services throughout Japan with a ¥5 million grant that will help sustain TELL’s crisis and suicide prevention Lifeline and a wide range of other mental health outreach and education initiatives. TELL is a not-for-profit organization that has provided mental health support and counseling services to Japan’s international community for over 40 years, and the Lifeline offers free, anonymous and confidential counseling and emotional support in times of crisis.

Nippon Renewable Energy K.K. is one of Japan’s largest and most active renewable energy players, with a principal focus on developing and operating solar photovoltaic facilities that provide clean, sustainable energy.

“TELL, and especially the Lifeline, relies on community support for our continued operation,” said Dr. Anne Bille, Chairman of the Board of TELL. “We are extremely grateful to Nippon Renewable Energy for their generous donation, which will allow us to pursue our goal of extending Lifeline operations around the clock, as well as providing subsidized face-to-face counseling, and a wide range of other programs.”
“NRE is honored to work with TELL to treat and raise awareness for mental health issues in Japan. We applaud TELL’s tireless efforts and its expansion of service offerings and locations to help more individuals in need,” commented Adam Ballin, NRE Representative Director.

TELL Lifeline receives approximately 6,000 calls a year from all over Japan, of which roughly 60 percent come from Japanese citizens and 40 percent from Japan-resident foreigners.
