#Grounding techniques are exercises we can use to distract ourselves from anxious or stressful feelings as they bring our focus to our immediate sensations and experiences. This way we become “grounded” in the present and our thoughts are not consumed with either the past or the future.
Grounding techniques can be done pretty much anywhere, any time and don’t cost anything.
Taking 5 minutes to bring our attention to our senses using the 54321 technique can be beneficial in the moment, when we are feeling overwhelmed or unfocused, or can also become a regular practice.
