Brandy Nakamura is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-MHSP) by the state of Tennessee and obtained a master’s degree in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy. Having lived in Japan for over 15 years, her long-term experience abroad gives her a deep understanding of the emotional and practical challenges faced by expatriates, international families, and individuals navigating life between cultures.
Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and client-centered, tailoring sessions to the unique needs of each individual and family system. She believes that meaningful change occurs in a space where clients feel safe, heard, and respected. She has a particular interest in helping couples improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and address conflict in healthier and more supportive ways.
Brandy values balance and sustainability, both in therapy and in daily life. She encourages self-compassion and realistic self-care practices, especially for those living in high-pressure environments or far from familiar support systems.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys making music, practicing hot yoga, and relaxing with friends and family at local coffee shops.
