Initial Intake Fee

The fee for the initial intake is separate from the assessment fee. The regular fee for the intake session is 20,000 yen (plus tax) for a 50-minute session. Apart from the regular fee, we offer a flexible-fee pricing structure/sliding scale fee for the intake session, based upon family/household income. Please note that the sliding scale fee is applicable only for clients who pay out-of-pocket. We apply the regular fee for those whose fee is covered by a third party (insurance company, EAP, etc.).

How Do I Qualify for Sliding Scale Fee?

  • If you wish to qualify for Sliding Scale Fee you are required to show proof of gross annual income for all immediate family members living in your household.
  • Gross income is ALL income from ALL resources (housing allowances, savings, offshore funds, trust funds, benefits, etc.) before taxes.
  • If health insurance or an employer reimburses for the assessment, the regular fee is applicable.

Acceptable Income Verification:

  • Withholding Income Tax slip /源泉徴収表
  • Current pay stubs (recent 2-3 months)
  • A copy of your recent bank account statement

How Do I Get Started?

Please submit either one of the above Acceptable Income Verification items to TELL Counseling prior to the appointment date, or bring the document with you on the date of your initial appointment. Your therapist/psychologist will discuss your specific fees further with you individually.

Assessment Fees – for Children

The assessment fee is on a sliding scale based on family income; the figures quoted below represent the range. Clients holding international health insurance are charged the full rate. There are 3 different types of assessment. Your psychologist at TELL will advise you which assessment is recommended for your child following an initial intake session.

For the assessment/testing appointment, a cancellation fee of 20,000yen (tax excl.) will be charged if you do not show or cancel within 24 hours.

National Health Insurance

Services at TELL Counseling are not covered by Japan National Health Insurance.

Private Insurance

Most foreign private insurance companies cover all or a portion of the cost of assessment when policy provisions such as pre-authorization or a referral by a medical doctor are met. For information on payment of a neuropsychological or psychoeducational assessment, you should contact your health care insurer directly to determine the specific authorization procedures that may be necessary.

TELL does not accept payments directly from third parties, but will provide an invoice for families for reimbursement.
