Akemi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California, U.S. After engaging in other careers for many years between Japan and the U.S., discovering a passion for helping others, Akemi decided to pursue a mental health profession. She obtained a master’s degree in counseling from Palo Alto University, California, and has been working as a psychotherapist since 2017. She has experience in working with adults, elders, adolescents, children, couples, families, and the LGBTQ community, treating depression, anxiety, panic, trauma, PTSD, stressor-related problems, mood disorders, anger management, loss/grief, and relational problems, and providing life coaching.
