Nami is a licensed mental health clinician through the state of Massachusetts as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor through NBCC. She was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan. Then, she moved to the U.S.A. for higher education. She has a master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota. After graduation, she moved to Cape Cod, MA. She has over 19 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including an outpatient clinic, crisis intervention centers, outreach programs, community centers, and residential schools. She has a broad range of clinical experience working with individuals, families, and groups during her professional career.
She has extensive experience working with the following diagnoses: Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, ADD/ADHD, Autism, Prader Willi Syndrome, Behavior disorders, trauma, grieving, family/relationship issues, anger/stress management issues, poor social skills, and self-esteem.
Her approach emphasizes the mutual development of goals for therapy and the provision of ongoing evaluation of the therapeutic approach. She has been utilizing eclectic approaches throughout her career in order to provide the best approach to meet individual needs. The main therapeutic modules are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavior modifications, Mindfulness, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, Aikido, skating, skiing, and hanging out with her friends and family.
