Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (New York) and National Certified Counselor

I am a native of Seattle, Washington. In 2001, I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University, while simultaneously serving on active duty in the Army. I proudly served in the military, retiring after 24 years of service as an Army Engineer.

My counseling experience includes working with older adults, families, children, adolescents, and young adults, in the following areas: family dynamics, couple and marital concerns, career and job-related issues, parenting, adolescent development, LGBTQ+ identity and family dynamics associated with queer identifying youth and supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. I approach each client and their concerns from a solution-focused and cognitive behavioral orientation, building a deliberate therapeutic collaboration with the client to resolve the presenting issues in meaningful and sustainable ways.

I recently completed my doctorate of higher education leadership from Manhattanville College, and published my doctoral dissertation in Jun of 2020, entitled: “A Qualitative Study Examining Activation of College Student Bystander Intervention Decisions in Potential Sexual Assault Situations.” Dealing personally with deployment, I self-published a child’s book entitled: “Momby” Wears Combat Boots, Where Did She Go?” This book chronicled my youngest child’s experience of my 2009 deployment to Afghanistan.

Samantha and her husband Kevin are the proud parents of four children, three in college and one in middle school.
