Kulsoom was born in Pakistan, and moved to Toronto, Canada, where she was raised. She first moved to Tokushima, Japan as an English teacher in 2017, and later moved to Kobe in 2021. Kulsoom had a keen interest to get involved with TELL prior to moving to Japan, and started volunteering at TELL events in 2022.
Since moving to Japan, Kulsoom has been working in English education, teaching a variety of ages ranging from young children to adults. While in Canada, she gained professional experience in the tourism industry, working as a tour guide, as well as the sports and recreation industry, working as a rock climbing instructor and field house attendant.
Kulsoom graduated from the University of Toronto with a BSc, specializing in Mental Health and focusing on neuropsychology and personality disorders within her last year. In Canada, she volunteered for Doctors Without Borders, Let’s Talk Science and at the Toronto Western Hospital in the neurodegenerative disorders department as inpatient support. While in Japan, she volunteered for the Tokushima Association of JET, bringing the international community together as the Event Coordinator.
During her free time, Kulsoom enjoys immersing herself in art by exploring different mediums and visiting art galleries. She also enjoys reading books, playing board games, visiting museums, and trying new activities and sports.
