Ken Hirano is a licensed psychotherapist from California with an MFT
He completed his Master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He entered this profession after 10+ years in the corporate world working for companies such as Microsoft in the United States and in Japan. He also worked for three years at an international school in Shanghai, China as a counselor and has 5 years of counseling experience in schools and social service agencies in California. In his counseling career, Ken has worked with a wide variety of issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, family system issues, trauma, cultural issues, selective mutism, eating disorders, and behavioral problems in children. His main therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and client-centered though he will supplement this with other modalities such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing. He also has several years of experience with play therapy and has conducted parent workshops on topics such as Positive Discipline.
