Since 1973 TELL has been the leading NPO whose mission is to provide world-class, effective support and counseling services to Japan’s international community. Our relevance as an organization has grown even more significantly in recent years and TELL is seeking to meet the expanding needs of our community by investing in our organization.

We are seeking a passionate, mission-driven leader who is motivated to join our leadership team as Executive Director (“ED”) and share our vision of: creating a vibrant, sustainable organization; fostering growth and development of all staff and stakeholders; embracing diversity with compassion and respect; communicating with outside organizations to bring value and talent into TELL. The ED is the top leadership position within TELL.

Proactive Leader
● The ED has a vision and energy to implement the strategies that are designed and agreed on with the Board. A positive and decisive leadership presence able to bring people together; an articulate, empathetic leader for TELL’s three critical pillars Lifeline, Clinic, Outreach, and the corporate functions of Finance and HR.
● The ED has a strong sense of ownership and pride in TELL’s positive impact in our community; effective driving productivity while inspiring the team with a creative spark to realize the TELL mission.
● The ED empowers, coaches, and enables the Lifeline Director and Clinic Director to make the day-to-day decisions for their respective units; caring about the details and empowering others to act and deliver.
● The ED has direct responsibility for Outreach and its resources and manages the central functions of the organization.
● Board relationship: the ED has a mandate from the Board Chair and Executive Committee to unify and
proactively lead an integrated strategy for TELL that strengthens the organization and enables sustainable growth and stability.
● Manage two senior direct reports: LifeLine Director, Clinical Director, Business Manager
● The ED leads the day-to-day office operations which include the direct oversight of the Finance and HR functions.
● Manage direct reports: Tokyo Office Coordinator, Financial Controller, Key Spokesperson
● The ED acts as the primary spokesperson on key activities and has oversight over TELL’s public image, including occasional public speaking responsibilities (in English and potentially Japanese).
● The ED sets the strategy and goals for both corporate and community outreach, over a growing number of locations around Japan; as well as clearly defining the framework, pricing and services offered by Outreach including workshops, stress checks, training and EAPs (Employee Assistance Programmes).
● Manage three direct reports: Corporate Services Manager, Community Services Manager and her team, Web and Graphic Design Coordinator

● Polished and organized public speaker
● Proficient operational and financial acumen, including the ability to manage budgets
● Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Suite similar products
