Billing and Administrative Specialist (part-time)

We have a thriving practice in Tokyo, Okinawa, and via Teletherapy which serves the international and local Japanese community, as well as U.S. military dependents. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, which provides counseling and assessments for adults, children, adolescents, and families.
TELL Okinawa is looking for a Billing & Administrative Specialist who works well with a team as well as independently, is detail-oriented, has great communication skills, and is passionate about both mental health and being part of a mission to help our local military population. This position is for 20-30 hours a week, Monday through Friday, approximately 9 am to 3 pm or 8 am to 2 pm. Work locations will be spread throughout TELL’s two offices and some remote work if desired after successful completion of a probationary period. Bilingual skills are not necessary but would be considered favorably!
The Billing & Administrative Specialist (BAS) will be part of the Billing Team that works with the various insurance plans to submit invoices and to apply for subsequent payments. This position is also responsible for managing credit card and cash payments. The BAS will need to maintain knowledge of the procedures for the different insurance types and be able to follow protocols for documenting sessions and charging clients or insurance as appropriate. The BAS will report to the Clinical Manager and the Billing Coordinator. The BAS will also assist in additional administrative needs/ projects as identified involving case files, tracking, compliance, etc. Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or accounting-related field preferred but not required. Experience working in a medical or mental health setting would also be preferred but is not required.
