Ms. McGovern is an American psychotherapist, registered as an IMFT in California.
She completed her Masters of Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University. She is a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (parent coaching) and is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). She has over five years experience in various nonprofit organizations, working with abused and adopted children, gang youth, and impoverished families. Her training and work has included Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Theraplay and attachment therapy, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and EMDR Part 1 (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
At TELL Counseling, Ms. McGovern provides distance counseling via Skype to adults, to meet the needs of clients who cannot seek services in person. Her therapeutic interests include parenting issues, anxiety, depression, abuse survivors/trauma, relationships, adjustment issues, and personal well-being/work-life balance. She works from a dynamic approach that focuses on the therapeutic relationship and includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, and mindfulness techniques.
