TELL Counseling is not equipped to provide emergency services. In case of emergency, please contact the police or emergency line. If you wish to speak to someone for emotional support, please call TELL Lifeline: 03-5774-0992 (English only, everyday, 9 am to 11 pm). In general counseling sessions are by appointment only, and we do not provide same-day appointments.
How long will it take before I can schedule an appointment at TELL Counseling?
In general, clients can schedule the initial appointment within one week of the initial contact. However, due to the limited availability of appointments outside regular business hours and on the weekend (Saturday), a two or three-week wait might be required before we can schedule the initial session. Please contact us for more information about our therapists’ availability.
Do you provide marriage counseling?
Yes, we have therapists who are trained in couples counseling. Beside couples counseling and individual counseling, we also provide family counseling.
How can I schedule an appointment for my child?
For parents or legal guardians who would like to schedule a counseling appointment for their children, please contact us by phone (03-4550-1146, Mon – Fri, 10 am to 6 pm). For more information about making appointment for your child, please see Appointment for Your Child page.
Can I schedule a counseling appointment for a friend/family member?
For adult* individual counseling, we do not schedule/cancel appointments for a third party (including a family member, fiancée and boyfriend/girlfriend). Only the identified client can schedule/cancel her/his own appointment. If you think a friend/family member needs to meet with a therapist for counseling, please ask her/him to contact us (03-4550-1146, Mon – Fri, 10 am to 6 pm).
For couples counseling, either one of the clients may contact TELL Counseling for scheduling/canceling an appointment.
In cases where the identified client is a minor, a designated parent or legal guardian is allowed to manage the counseling appointments.

How much is the fee?
TELL Counseling operates according to a flexible-fee pricing structure. The regular fee per session (1 session is 50 minutes) is 20,000 yen (plus tax). We also offer a sliding scale fee or counseling services adjusted to your income for those who qualify. Do you take Japanese National Health Insurance?
No, services at TELL Counseling are not covered by Japan National Health Insurance (Kokumin/Shakai Hoken). If you are covered by a private international health insurance, please see Counseling Fees & Payment Policies.
How long does one therapy session last?
One session is scheduled for 50 minutes. For the initial session (intake session), clients can choose to schedule a 1.5 session (75 minutes). The fee is charged on a pro-rata basis.
What can I expect in the first session (intake session)?
Before the appointment, you will be asked to fill out a form which will help the counselor to assess your situation during the intake session. At the initial session, you can expect to:
- work together with counselor to clarify your presenting problems
- express your goals for treatment
- gain an understanding of your counselor’s approach to therapy
Your therapist will assess and determine the best course of action for your situation, such as recommending on going counseling (individual, couples, family, etc), and/or referrals to additional health service providers.
I live outside of Kanto area, do you offer distance counseling?
Yes, TELL Counseling offers distance counseling via Skype. To find out more, please see the Distance Counseling FAQ page.
Do you offer counseling services in other languages besides English and Japanese?
Currently we only offer counseling in English and Japanese.
Can I schedule an appointment outside regular business hours or on the weekend?
Yes, we offer counseling appointments on weekday evenings and on Saturday. However, due to the limited availability of appointments outside regular business hours and on the weekend (Saturday), a two or three-week wait might be required before we can schedule the initial session. Can the therapist prescribe medication for me if I need it?
No, our therapists do not prescribe medication. They will assist you in working with your physician to obtain appropriate medication or refer you to a psychiatrist for medication, if they feel it is warranted.
Do you accept payment by credit card?
Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Diners and UFJ Card.
Is there any parking around the office?
Car parking is not available within the building. However, there are commercial parking services around the vicinity. If you wish to come by car, please arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of the appointment to give yourself time to look for available parking space.
